In extremely stressful situations, time spent with dogs has been proven to have immense advantages by improving psychological well-being as well as delivering a sense of calm and comfort. These therapy dog teams assist the community overcoming disasters by providing comfort during times of extreme loss, depression and anxiety.
Colorado comfort Canine handlers, which are all Critical Incident Stress Management trained, take their teams to visit injured victims and family members, first responders, relief workers and members of the community affected by the pressure, pain and lose attributed to the disaster event.
Human-canine teams must be certified Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) teams in good standing. Colorado Comfort Canine handlers must also complete Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training. Please contact us for more information on the next available CISM training.
